If babies could communicate this to us! We choose the easier way out and use disposable diapers which keeps filling lands! We may totally skip the thought of how our Moms did it for us. Whatever is keeping us too busy, or making us too lazy; we remain oblivious to all that which comes along with convenience. It is unfortunate that we picked up Western & modern ways, blindfolded to the goodness of what we were leaving- Health and Eco-friendliness.
In US and other developed countries now, they talk the old ways- cotton nappies, early potty training for their babies and they became sensitive to their babies rashes too. Unfortunately we have developed a habit of following their trail, so some day perhaps we will come back to our own practices of using cloth diapers. But before you buy next set of disposable diapers, note that not just your baby gets rashes and problems with elimination communication, but it also takes 200-500 years for a disposable diaper to decompose! Only 3 countries US, UK & Australia dispose 60 million packages per day!(Source: Treehugger)
In India cotton diapers or nappies are not difficult to find.
