That's what I do:

  • Avoid usage of plastic bags as far as possible. Reuse plastic bags and reuse them instead of dumping them in dust bin. Carry cloth bag (follow our old sabzi thaila system) for buying vegetables and other groceries.
  • Avoid loud speakers to avoid noise pollution.
  • Plant trees
  • Turn off car's ignition at red lights. Drive cars at 45-60km speed.
  • Turn off tap when not in use during shaving, teeth brushing, taking bath, cleaning utensils etc.
  • Promote usage of fly ash and blast furnace slag for construction works and minimize excavation of top soil and fertile soil.
  • Use ESP i.e. electrostatic precipitation in chimneys/smoke stacks to avoid pollution of air.
  • Avoid draining industrial waste, untreated sewage and plastics in river/ pond/sea.

  • I minimize my use of plastic bags. Prefer to carry own shopping bag.
  • I unplug the power outlets that are not in use
  • I prefer Public Transport
  • I use water quite conservatively and minimize luxury baths or showers
  • In general also I am not a big Consumer and not a shopaholic
