Get wed in daylight

Get wed in daylight: Save power, Save money

indibrideIn many religions, wedding happens during morning or daytime. Christians go to church in the morning, get wed and that follows a reception. Sikhs choose Sundays to get wed in a gurudwara, but all the rituals happen during the day. In most of the Indian weddings however, chaos is always seen with everything being way too pompous, heavy power usage with all venue lit up till the wee hours. Generators used for the same add to noise and air pollution.

If the wedding happens in the daylight, it could save lot of time, energy, power, money and extravaganza.

In Hinduism 'godhuli vela' (twilight hour of the evening) is said to be the time of pheras (rituals for the wedlock). This is the time when cows (gau in Hindi) return home from field before its dark and the dust (dhool or dhuli in Hindi) that clouds up in theĀ  air makes the hour (vela in Hindi) as 'godhuli'. But perhaps the idea of inviting everyone in late evenings, booze, dance, dinner and then the rituals going till late just stretches it all too long.

There are many examples where the grooms and brides stood up for less ostentatious marriages, saving their budgets while acting socially and economically responsible also. We just need this to be a preferred common choice than select examples
